Get to Know Our Dental Assistant, Cassandra Ollila

Hi! My name is Cassandra Ollila, and I am a dental assistant at The Gorman Center for Fine Dentistry!

I have been working here for almost two years, but I am not new to the area.

I grew up in Lino Lakes and continue to live there with my two children, Taylor, a senior in high school, and Luke, an 8th grader.

How I became a dental assistant

I graduated from Century College… This text opens a new tab to the college’s website… in 2006 with a licensed dental assistant degree and an associate’s in applied science.

Before coming to The Gorman Center, I worked at the University of Minnesota Dental Residency… This text opens a new tab to the university’s website… program with dental residents. I specialized in seeing patients who had complex medical histories and were undergoing dental clearance for medical procedures.

After five years at the U of M, I began working for Dr. Steve Gorman!

What I love about dentistry

I love working at The Gorman Center, and my favorite part is transforming people’s lives through smile design and complete health dentistry.

It is amazing to watch how much a smile impacts our clients’ livelihoods and self-confidence.

While at work, my favorite treatment to do is using the CEREC digital scanner to create and design smiles. I love the technological advancements that have been made in dentistry that make our clients’ lives easier!

The best advice I ever received

I have received many bits of advice throughout my life, but the best advice I have ever received comes from the Bible.

I love the Bible verse 1 John 4:7,

“Dear friends, let us love one another for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”

What I like to do away from work

In my free time, I have a passion for many different things.

I love hosting a women’s small group every Sunday, and I love maintaining an active lifestyle.

I enjoy fitness, and due to the recent pandemic, I purchased a Peloton and created my own home gym. It has been amazing to begin each morning with a quick workout, and it will definitely be beneficial to use during a cold Minnesota winter.

I also enjoy spending time watching my son play sports, going shopping with my daughter, and spending time with the rest of my family.
