A Smile Makeover to Boost Your Confidence
Have you lost your confidence to smile?
Perhaps you dream of a better smile but don’t know how to achieve it.
Emily had almost lost hope in finding a dentist passionate enough to help create the results she was looking for.
How Emily Found The Gorman Center for Fine Dentistry
Through her search on Google, she discovered that Dr. Gorman was an accredited dentist through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD…Click to open new window to the AACD website…).
This glimmer of hope prompted Emily to check out our website and our previous patients’ before and after shots, as well as our Instagram page…Click to open a new window to our Instagram page….
“From the first phone call, they were so welcoming and friendly and made it so easy to make an appointment.”
Emily commented that she had never found a dentist interested in investigating the possibilities.
Without professional guidance, Emily was unsure how to fix her smile or even if it was possible.
“As soon as I arrived, the place felt right. They made me feel so welcome. The whole staff was exceptional.”
We sat down with Emily and discussed the issues and problems. From there, we worked together to identify possible ways to help her achieve her dream smile. I showed Emily some cases and outcomes that started with similar circumstances to hers. This was one step to help her visualize her potential result.
“From the first moment, I knew I was gonna be cared for and get the results I wanted.”
Emily was a joy to work with – She was trusting, engaged, and passionate about achieving her smile goals.

One of Emily’s biggest problems was her lack of confidence in her smile.
She was unhappy with the color and shape of her teeth and the amount of gum she showed when smiling.
We wanted to make sure she could smile and speak with confidence, so we built a plan to revitalize the appearance of her teeth.
The Smile Makeover Plan
A smile makeover is a combination of cosmetic dentistry procedures used to improve the overall appearance of a person’s teeth and gums and create a more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing smile.
Our plan consisted of three stages – two preparation stages, and one restoration stage:
- Full dental cleaning
- Gum contouring (gum lift)
A dental cleaning, also known as prophylaxis, is a routine procedure performed by a dental hygienist to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from the teeth.
The procedure can consist of other aspects, such as polishing, and is generally done every six months to maintain oral health.
In this case, however, we needed to give her teeth some extra care and attention to prepare them for following treatments.
After a thorough cleaning, we moved on to the gum contouring.
A gum lift is a surgical procedure that adjusts the position of the gum line to expose more of the tooth’s surface.
This can be done for aesthetic reasons, such as to improve the appearance of a “gummy” smile, or for functional reasons, such as to improve the fit of a dental crown.
With Emily, this was performed to allow less gum to show in her smile and to give her front teeth a consistent appearance and length.
This gave her a more full, symmetrical look and fit her face much better than the old smile.
Porcelain veneers are thin tooth-colored shells bonded to the front of your teeth. They’re custom-made to match your smile for shape and color and conceal dental flaws such as:
- Stains or discoloration
Having created impressions of Emily’s teeth to enable our in-house ceramist, Edgar Jimenez, to make the veneers, Dr. Gorman placed temporary veneers on her teeth. This helped her prepare for her new smile while Edgar crafted her permanent veneers.
Once the permanent veneers were ready, Dr. Gorman checked to see that the restorations’ fit, shape, and color were perfect. Then he permanently secured them on her teeth.
In total, we fitted ten porcelain veneers for Emily.
Veneers provide consistent, natural-looking color for your smile.
They’re one of the most effective ways to improve your smile and make it appear whiter and healthier.
Fun fact: Porcelain veneers are incredibly durable and can be more resistant to stains and abrasion than your natural enamel.
Porcelain veneers can last 25 years or more, provided you care for them correctly!
Emily beams when she comes into the office now!
